This week I explored some of the scales on the guitar. I did not find this to be very challenging due to my ukulele experience, and ear for music. I also started learning some of the basic chords. It is definitely MUCH more difficult to play chords on the guitar than on the ukulele.
For next week, I hope to work on strengthening my chords and chord changes. I also aim to play around a bit more with picking out familiar songs. Hopefully in a few weeks I will be able to play and sing a simple song for you!
Hi Teagan, this blog post idea is so cool! I also think that (maybe) this will help your personal goals this term for our music class–you are doing fantastic so far! Your idea of posting a video along with your blog is great and I am very interested to see how much you progress this term.
I am looking forward to seeing you play a simple song in a few weeks, although I think the “happy birthday” song at the end of your video was great and far more than I could do while first learning a new instrument.
Hi Teagan!
You are so natural in front of the camera… kinda jealous, you should 100% be a “how-to-guitar” YouTuber. Also, I am very jealous of how fast you are picking up the guitar! I remember when I first started learning when I was younger I could not get it, it took me way to long to learn even just one scale. I found that memorizing song’s patterns and then later matching notes to the already known patterns was super helpful. I learned the ukulele and piano that same way. However, it is definitely a practice that does not work for everyone I just thought I would give my two cents. That being said this method is working great for you, you are picking it up and seem to be pretty comfortable already. I imagine that is because of your ukulele background.
Go you! Keep strummin’!
I am insanely jealous of your music talent. I am so curious how your ukulele training is transferring to the guitar? Is it easier or harder than you expected? I am so entertained by your process and progress. Guitar is something I have always wanted to learn, but have never had the time or effort to put into it. Watching your journey is educational and inspiring. Maybe you’ll even convince me to pick one up!
Teagan! This is awesome!
I am so interested in your inquiry process because we can watch and hear your progress so easily! Your musical talent is so impressive and I am interested to know if your ukulele skills transfer over to the guitar. Are there songs that you can play on both the guitar and ukulele? If so, what are the similarities and the differences? I can’t wait to continue to watch your inquiry journey. Also, I am so jealous of how comfortable you are in front of the camera!
